new pattern Storna

When I saw this pattern from a stone fretwork in bar Palladio in Jaipur i immediately had a pattern idea.

The picture is a random find on instagram. It is just a small fragment of the original photo.

These are the steps to draw “storna” in any space. I prefer to draw it in an ogee grid. That resembles most the stone ornament fretwork were the pattern came from.

On the left final drawing with storna pattern in regular ogee grid. Sides with intuitive fillings. I am pleased with the outcome. On the right a slightly different ogee pattern , with orange knightbridge (zentangle) for background to make it see trought.

Creamy paper, brown colourpencil for shade, white for highlight.

New pattern steps: Dome

Today i have been working on some patterndesign. The original idea came from a window of a woodstove. But when i had added the coffering effect it made me think of a futuristic dome over a city. So now I have named it “Dome”.

tip: After putting in the aura connect corners at once to avoid you miss some of them.

Shade or fill as you like.Have fun!

SCUBFLOWER

I have put my self at work this afternoon in reply to Alice Hendon’s question about the step-out for Scubflower. I see it rather as a pattern. But one that goes well with other organic tangles. The inspiration was a floral ceramic tile that i found on pintrest. I had to simplify quite a bit but found steps to reproduce scubflower easyly. ( and that was before i knew the subject of pp21)

Here is the photo that inspired me for this pattern:

Below you can see my first sketches in my notebook.

the last photo is a first try-out of Scubflower amongst other tangles ( Trianglular well, pookeroot mash-up ,wyfore variations and other)

Hebra ,Bilu en Jafelle

A playfull study with colourpencils and fineliners in my sketchbook.
Foundabout (zentangle)
fragment hebra( Henrike Bratz) for background.
Bilu (Johanna Kohl) I need to look closer at this one .I am not quite there yet.I will look at this video a lot closer.
Jafelle (Kim Turmel) in the underleft corner.

I also made this cosy Teddybears family in a watercolours workshop. The focus was layed on colourmixing and Shading.

Curlyhearts

I have been working on a new pattern from a decoration on a tinbox. Feel free to try it . I have added the steps and an example. I know there are already patterns with the name. But until i find a better one it is “curlyhearts”

Ik zag dit patroon op een blikken doos. Probeer het gerust. Ik weet dat er al minstens één patroon is met deze naam, maar tot ik een betere vind is het “curlyhearts”.

Ornament of fragments

I had so much fun creating this ornament that i decide to post it immidiately . I made this ornament with my cardboard fragments. And that is the last for a fragment challenge by 7f5r.

ornament.jpg (17.67KiB)
Then i have filled it with fragments of the challenge derived from: My Muze( Heidy Kay) Tripiko(Ildica Boyd) Zigoli (Deb Boyer) Tripoly(Zentangle®)and fragment W6.

In the weekend I had plenty of time, so i though the ornament deserved some colour. I have used opaque watercolours from Pelican and some goldpaint.

Do you want to try? Template free to use,try to find your own suitable fragment. I dare you.

For “a fragmant of your imagination” @7forests5rivers ; Maybe my last for this challenge. Thank you for the hand-out.

twelf days of zentangle

This is my finished drawing for pp19 by zentangle®.I have followed along with the 12 days of zentangle on watercolourpaper A4. Not to glad with my background..But i managed to finish and it is like it is.These are my colours and i drew some patterns for the first time.

and this is my own version on ecodyed paper.

Cool weather, colours and tangles

Cold weather inspires my to use cold colours: blues ,white and black on grey cardboard. I have used a number 4 as a string. The Believe pattern took me some time to puzzle it out . I like the cristaline look it creates. the L’s are very graphic and the titan pattern is decorative . Colouring is done with colourpencils . The white accents are done with sakura gelpen. Patterns are:

Believe(Nadine Roller) L’s (Cyndi Knapp and Titan(Suzanne McNeil)

Patroontjes zie hierboven.

Last week i have drawn this mandala . Template from Alice Hendon (Tangle all around) The filling is rather intuitieve but based on existing patterns (purk, paradox, wings ). Colouring is done with alcohol markers. The second is digitaly changed in greytints.

Vorige week heb ik deze mandala getekend. De template werd aangereikt door Alice Hendon (Tangle all around).De invulling is eerder intuitief . Ik kleurde het geheel met alcoholstiften. Ik maakte ook een digitale bewerking in grijstinten.
